About Joanna
My story
I know first hand how difficult recovering from an injury can be. While commuting to work, I was struck by a car and knocked off my bike.
After seeing every Orthopedic surgeon in the Bay Area, I was told I would be in pain for the rest of my life and would never get back on my mountain bike. Always the stubborn person, I didn’t accept this diagnosis. I traveled all over the country to find a health care practicer that could help alleviate my daily pain and get me back on my mountain bike.
My search took me to a practitioner that studied Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex, and not long after my first session, the daily pain I was experiencing started to go away. I was intrigued by these results, that nobody else was able to provide, so I committed to learning this technique and incorporating it into my practice. I ended up spending a year studying directly with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jose Palomar, the founder of P-DTR.
I believe the most effective approach to healing dysfunctions is through the combination of multiple disciplines. To be sure I am providing the highest level of care, I maintain best practices by regularly studying with top level instructors and rigorously keeping abreast of the latest techniques in ART (Active Release Therapy), NKT (Neurokinetic Therapy), and P-DTR (Proprioseptive Deep Tendon Reflex), and I’m also certified in AIS (Active Isolated Stretching) and SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment)
My philosophy is focused around restoring the structural balance throughout the body, targeting both prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal dysfunctions. I do this by encouraging healthy and proper body movements, while raising clients’ awareness regarding optimal muscle health.
Ultimately, I strive to provide the most innovative and effective treatments to my clients, so they can live happy healthy lives.
